In 2016, for Prophet Anne’s birthday at Game of Thrones and Stormgods, the Feast of Saint Randy was started to enable us to have a big party without exhausting anyone on prep (since it was a Friday evening). This turned out to be so popular with both the household and guests to camp, that the Daos have been having one every Friday night at an event since.

The premise is simple: 

On the first day of an event, every household member must bring one appetizer for about 12 people and a bottle of something to share. These are all placed on tables under the Big Top and anyone who is in camp may enjoy.

Outside the camp we usually post the following notice:

WE, THE DAOS OF AN-TIR,

DECLARE THE FOLLOWING:

WHOEVER YOU ARE, (Daoish or unwashed masses)

PROVIDED YOU ARE A SCADIAN (or newcomer),

DO NOT FEAR THE FETTERS OF THE LAW HERE (within reason).

GO WHEREVER YOU WANT TO (as long as it’s under the Big Top),

ASK FOR WHATEVER YOU DESIRE (we may or may not give it to you),

LEAVE WHENEVER YOU WISH (but leave our booze here).

HERE THINGS ARE PROVIDED (wine, cheese)

MORE FOR THE VISITOR (that’s you)

THAN FOR THE DAOS (not true, it’s for us too)

THE DAOS LAW FORBIDS THE IMPOSITION OF RIGID RULES (unless they are our rules, and we may or may not tell you what those are),

LET PROPER GOODWILL BE THE LAW FOR FRIENDS HERE. (be nice)

HOWEVER, IF ANYONE WILLFULLY AND DELIBERATELY,

WITH EVIL INTENTIONS,

BREAKS THE GOLDEN RULES OF CIVILITY, (don’t be a dick)
